Who is that route for?
Route for fans of the Garrotxina nature, rough, broken land, with bad footprints, Romanesque, bridges and churches, and history, since it is the land of smugglers.
PUIG DE BASSEGODA
We will leave from Santa Pau, a charming town known for its medieval beauty and unique volcanic landscapes.
Passing through Olot, the heart of the Garrotxa region, and once we reach Montagut, we will head towards Sadernes. This is where the authentic 4×4 trail begins.
The trail winds through lush forests and rugged terrain, testing driving skills and vehicle endurance.
We will cross the picturesque esplanade of La Plana, an ideal place to make a brief stop and enjoy nature, and then we will head towards Mount Bassegoda.
Once we reach the Bassegoda pass, we will leave the vehicle and continue on foot to the summit, located at 1,374 metres above sea level. Here we will be amazed by the spectacular views offered by this magnificent mountain.
The return route may vary depending on the route you decide to follow at that time.
Advice for the day of the route
On our exciting 4×4 route to Mount Bassegoda, it is essential to wear comfortable shoes. Since the route includes a hike to the top, we recommend wearing good boots or suitable mountain shoes.
During this incredible 4×4 adventure, we will cross rivers and streams where we will often have to jump from stone to stone. It is likely that, at some point, we will end up with one foot in the water. Therefore, carrying spare socks is an excellent idea. It is also useful to have water shoes to cross the rivers and enjoy the pools without worries.
Don’t forget to add a coat and rain gear to your backpack, as the weather in the mountains can be very unpredictable. Being prepared for any change in weather will guarantee that you can fully enjoy the experience without any setbacks.
