The Santa Magdalena 4x4 route is one of the most popular. A route for people who like thrills, cliffs, herds of cows, horses, sheep... and authentic 4x4 thrills.
4x4 ROUTE: SANTA MAGDALENA
The Santa Magdalena route is ideal for 4×4 and nature lovers.
We will start our tour in Santa Pau, from where we will head towards Olot, passing through its magnificent volcanic surroundings. We will continue the journey to Sant Privat, where the first spectacular views will begin to captivate us.
From Sant Privat, we will head towards Collfred, a place known for its pasture landscapes with herds of cows, horses and sheep that make this place a bucolic setting. In Collfred, we will take the detour that will take us to Santa Magdalena, passing through a road that will test our 4×4 driving skills.
Before reaching our destination, we will make a stop to contemplate the impressive Sallent waterfall, a majestic waterfall that is worth admiring. Once we reach the highest point of Santa Magdalena, we can enjoy a traditional Garrotxa lunch with tomato bread, sausages, cheeses and fruit, surrounded by an incomparable natural environment.
For those who want more adventure, this route also offers the possibility of a nice walk to the top of Puigsacalm. This hike is optional but highly recommended for the panoramic views it offers.
Tips for the day of the Santa Magdalena route
As this 4×4 route to Santa Magdalena includes an optional hike to the top of Puigsacalm, we recommend good hiking boots to ensure comfort and safety throughout the journey.
It is very likely that, at some point, we will get our feet wet, so carrying spare socks is a good idea. Aqua shoes are also very useful to cross the rivers and enjoy the pools without problems. If the weather permits, you can swim in the rivers, so don’t forget your swimsuit and towel.
It is also important to bring warm and rain clothing, as the weather conditions in the mountains can change suddenly.
