SANT ANIOL D’AGUJA

Duration

5-6 hours

Who is this route for?

We always recommend this route to nature and Romanesque lovers. We will see bridges and churches of the time, and we will walk along rivers with crystal clear waters. And who knows, maybe we'll even have a bath.

SANT ANIOL D’AGUJA

We leave Santa Pau, we go to Montagut, passing through Olot.

Once we arrive in Montagut, we will head towards La Muntada. On the way, we will make a mandatory stop at the Romanesque bridge over the Llierca river, an architectural marvel that offers us a spectacular view of the river and the surrounding landscape.

We follow our 4×4 route to La Muntada, where we will leave the vehicle to continue on foot. We will start a walk of about 50 minutes until we reach the church of Sant Aniol d’Aguja. This historic place, surrounded by nature, is perfect to take a break and enjoy a typical lunch of La Garrotxa, with local products that will make us enjoy the gastronomy of the area.

A short distance from the church, we find Salt del Brull and El Gorg Blau, two natural places ideal for taking a refreshing swim in the middle of nature. The crystal clear waters of Gorg Blau are a perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery.

For the return to La Muntada, we can choose between two different routes, each offering unique views and experiences. Once we have returned to La Muntada, we will return to our 4×4 to make the return journey to Santa Pau, following the same route as the first one.

Tips for the day of the Sant Aniol d'Aguja route

On our exciting 4×4 route to Sant Aniol d’Aguja, it is essential to wear comfortable shoes. As the route includes a walk to the church and nearby waterfalls, we recommend wearing good boots or suitable hiking shoes to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.

During this incredible 4×4 adventure, we will cross diverse terrains, including rivers and streams where we will often have to jump from stone to stone. It is likely that, at some point, we will end up with one foot in the water. Therefore, carrying a spare pair of socks is an excellent idea. In addition, water shoes will be very useful for crossing the rivers and enjoying the rapids without worries.

Don’t forget to add warm and rain gear to your backpack, as the weather in the mountains can be very unpredictable. Being prepared for any weather changes will ensure that you can fully enjoy the experience without any hiccups.
